FAQ
Albums and patches
How do I get my album printed?
Download the print-ready PDF, or the images to upload to Photoweb, Cewe or Photobox; when print-on-demand is available, order it directly and get it delivered.
How do I connect Claude to Kiptrail?
In Claude, add a custom connector with the address shown on the “Connect Claude” page, then authorise access to your account. Claude can then create your outings, import the track, add aid stations and polish your story, always as a draft.
How do I get my patch?
Design it in the studio (embroidered, woven, printed, PVC or badge), then download the mock-up and spec sheet to send to the maker of your choice. It also joins the collection on your profile.
About Kiptrail
What is Kiptrail?
An online race journal: for each race, a page with the map, the elevation profile, your aid-station splits, your photos at the right kilometre and your story, to share with friends and family.
Do I need an account to view a race page?
No. A published page can be read without an account. You only need one to create your own pages.
GPX tracks and photos
Which GPX files are accepted?
Files exported from Garmin Connect, Suunto, Coros, Polar or a hiking app, as well as official tracks published by organizers.
Can I connect my watch directly?
Yes for Polar, from your profile: your sessions are then imported in the editor, with no file. Garmin, Suunto and Coros will follow as soon as their partner programmes grant us access. Only the route is retrieved, never your heart rate.
GPX or FIT, what's the difference?
Both contain the route. FIT, the watches' native format, also holds your laps: if you press “lap” at each aid station, Kiptrail finds your split times and the time spent at each stop.
How do I get the GPX file from my watch?
Open the activity on your watch's website or app, then look for the “Export” option in GPX or FIT format (often “original file”). You can then import the downloaded file in your race editor.
How are photos placed on the route?
Using their GPS position if the camera recorded it, otherwise using the time they were taken compared with the track. You can then move them on the map or correct the kilometre.
Why won't my iPhone photos upload?
The HEIC format isn't supported yet. Set the camera to “Most Compatible” (JPEG) or export your photos as JPEG before uploading them.
Is my GPS position visible on my photos?
No. It's only used to place the photo on the route, then removed from published images.
Sharing and privacy
Who can see my pages?
Nobody while they're drafts. Once published, anyone with the link. A page can also stay off your public profile and be visible by link only.
Can I stay out of search results?
Yes: untick “Appear in runner search” in your profile. Your published pages stay readable by anyone with the link.
How do I delete my account or get my data?
From your profile: “Export my data” downloads an archive of all your races, and “Delete my account” permanently erases the account, pages and photos.
